Let's Misbehave
a naughty new musical comedy
book by Rich Orloff
music & lyrics by Cole Porte
LET’S MISBEHAVE is a new musical using 1920’s Cole Porter songs in a tale that blends the frothy style of early musical comedy with modern sensibilities about sexuality and identity. Set in 1925 Paris, LET’S MISBEHAVE is about a woman who leaves her loveless marriage in Dayton to go to Paris for fun and sexual adventures, but neither she nor her husband (who follows her) are prepared for the complications that come with sexual freedom. LET’S MISBEHAVE is about the challenge of letting go of who you’ve been, so you can embrace who you might become.
The score includes both famous Cole Porter songs such as “Let’s Misbehave” and “Let’s Do It, Let’s Fall in Love” and several lesser known but equally delightful songs such as “The Heaven Hop” and “Don’t Look at Me That Way”.
The cast features eight main characters (4 w., 4 m.) and a supporting cast of six or more (3+w., 3+ m.). Most of the characters are in their twenties.
Having gotten huge laughs and positive responses in developmental readings, LET’S MISBEHAVE is guaranteed give your audience a fun time, with some sweet substance snuck in about the joy of exploring beyond society’s boundaries.
